Just six months after the start of Forza Horizon 5, Forza Horizon 6 now seems to be developing for Xbox at Playground Games.
Discovered by XGP (about pure Xbox), the job offers for playground games says that they are “looking for a level designer who is joining our Forza Horizon team”. It also says that “you will be part of the level design team at our next AAA title”. The list also indicates that the project is in “pre -production”, which means that the correct development of the game has not yet started. The pre-production focuses on planning the central gameplay concepts and the overall design.
The mention of Forza Horizon expressly indicates that another game of the open world racing series is on the way. And the fact that they expressly mention the team rules out that this position is intended for the upcoming Fable game of Playground.
Turn 10 Studios is currently working on a restart of Forza Motorsport, whereby many speculate that the hardcore racing simulation will be released this year. This probably means that this next entry in the Horizon series of Playground is at least a year and a half.
However, Forza Horizon received three years of development. And since the game is only in pre-production, three years of development also seem to be more likely for the follow-up. This means that it will probably be published in 2024.
While a small team is working on the next Forza Horizon game, the rest of the Forza team from Playground is probably working on the two DLC packages for Forza Horizon 5, which still have to be announced. And with the Summer Games firmly around the corner, an unveiling of what comes next for Forza Horizon 5 could be around the corner. Hopefully the DLC should employ you a bit until the series’s next game is published.
