If it would go after the previous rhythm, the next football match from EA SPORTS would have to appear in late summer or autumn of this year: FIFA 23. However, the fans have to at least set a new name.
As the leader and industry insider Jeff Grubb reported in his podcast “Grubbsnax”, with a non-detailed source, Electronic Arts wants to rename the football game series already this year. According to Grubb, there are currently the internal designation EA Sports Football Club. These could still change until the official announcement of the game, this name seems to be high in the course.
Already last year (we reported) EA Sports had brought such a renaming into conversation. The reason: Electronic Arts is no longer ready to pay the extremely high costs for the FIFA license. The Publisher prefer to score points with the actual content as well as the mechanics instead of the pure name with the fans.
According to Jeff Grubb, this step could result in FIFA in the future developing its own football game series in order to continue to use the tensile name. For this purpose, however, a suitable partner studio would have to be found.
