Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty Kojima wanted Hans room as a composer

The composer Rika Muranaka was recently visited at Game Developer. There she talked to the editors about the soundtrack of the PS2 hits Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty .

It betrayed that the German Film Componer Hans room should be responsible for the soundtrack. That was then the wish of the Serial Creator Hideo Kojima.

Muranaka explained how they approached: We went to Media Ventures (today Remote Control Productions), the studio of Hans Zimmer. Originally we wanted to get Hans Zimmer, but he said, No, I can not do that for this money, he s so expensive, that s ridiculous.

Harry Gregson-Williams was the alternative

Because the Hollywood composer was too expensive for Konami, Kojima ultimately opted for Harry-Gregson Williams: So Hideo asked me to contact Harry, because Harry also worked for Hans Zimmer in this studio at this time.

The Briton produced in the end not only the soundtrack for Sons of Liberty , but also for numerous other offshoots of the popular Stealth series. Finally, his work was outstanding. However, he got support from other composers in the successors. Otherwise, he was involved in the Soundtrack of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare .

Hans room also composed the music for some video games. In this industry he worked for the first time at the Modern Warfare successor from 2009. This was followed by Crysis 2 , Skylanders , Beyond: Two Souls , Arena of Valor and Bless Online . Most recently, he made the soundtrack for the story mode of FIFA 19 .

Over the past few months, rumors have surfaced a return of the Metal Gear series. To date, however, there was no official announcement.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty was published on March 8, 2002 in Europe for PS2. The game was a huge success and sold over seven million times.
